Netanyahu to UN General Assembly to tell the truth about Iran

Prime Minister Netanyahu will make a quick trip to New York between Yom Kippur and Succoth to tell the United Nations General Assembly the truth about Iran.
"In Tehran the representatives of 120 countries listened to a blood libel against Israel and were quiet. That silence needs to stop, therefore I will travel to the UN's General Assembly and in a clear voice speak the truth about the Iranian terrorist regime that represents the biggest threat to world peace," Netanyahu said.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei accused "ferocious Zionist wolves" in the "criminal regime" of "organizing state terror" and controlling the media at Thursday's Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran

"Political and military leaders of the usurping Zionist regime have not avoided any crimes," Khamenei said, according to Iran's Mehr news agency.

Denouncing the West's condemnation of Palestinian terrorism, Khamenei said "The media networks which belong to Zionism and many of the Western and mercenary media repeat this great lie in violation of ethical values and journalistic commitment."

Advocating a one-state solution to the conflict Khamenei said "all the Palestinians who have suffered from years of exile should return to their country" and take part in a referendum to choose a political system.
Why does Netanyahu think the UN as a whole will react differently than the 60% of it that is part of the Non-Aligned Movement?

Hi Carl,

I heard the words uttered in Tehran: disinformation tactics; domestic propaganda - the whole lot.

PM Netanyanu doesn't think the UN will react differently but at least the Israeli version will be heard by a much wider audience (in the West to start with) because the NAM summit was not broadcast on this part of the world - since we are so focused on Syria.
The mainstream doesn't know what Iran said, but they might hear what PM Netanyahu will say...

Cheers

Max Coutinho,

It's likely to go in one ear and out the other. They only hear what they want to hear.

Carl,

I am a bit more positive than you. However, I must recognise that you have a point given the fact that many in the UNGA have a politically promiscuous relationship with Iran (and if they don't, they do not oppose it much for fear that the West unveils their own political "sins").

But let's see. The last time PM Netanyahu was before the UN his speech did wonders (have you noticed how the international attitude began changing regarding the Palestinian issue?).

Cheers

Max Coutinho,

I don't think Netanyahu's speech last year had a lot of effect. What had an effect was US pressure on its allies to avoid being forced to exercise a veto. That's what prevented 'Palestinian statehood' from coming to a vote in the Security Council.

This year, Obama doesn't care if it comes to a vote so long as it doesn't happen before November 6. And he won't veto it from November 7 onward either.

As to Iran, the world doesn't care if Iran launches a nuclear attack on Israel. In fact, that would be the proof that Iran means what it says to get them to save themselves. We are the canary in the coal mine.

Netanyahu's speech to the UN is the last comment by the Israeli leader before he does what he has to do, destroy Iran's nuclear capability now.

It is the final statement before an attack, likely 10/14 - 10/15 this year. Personally, I would EMP, and finish off the nuclear pieces thereafter with airpower etc. There is no support for Israel outside Israel. Only God's.

Carl,

But it was effective (although I didn't agree with much of the wording in it). The Spanish (a highly anti-Israel [and I'm being nice] country), for example, loved and praised it. Political pundits all over the media were saying that Netanyahu for the first time stretched the hand to Palestine and that the ball was in Abbas' court - this was unprecedented.

Nevertheless, you are absolutely right there: the US did a successful diplomatic job. The Palestinians failed to see their statehood declared and that was what Israel wanted all along (at least until the Judea and Samaria issue is permanently resolved).

Before the elections nothing will be done, which is expected. If President Obama gets re-elected, I expect a similar position to that of last year's.

"As to Iran, the world doesn't care if Iran launches a nuclear attack on Israel."

Agreed (unless, the c**p hits their fan).
However, I ask: does Israel need the world to care? Like Unknown said, all Israel needs is for God to care for its chosen people. Notwithstanding, His chosen people need to heed the timing - timing is vital, and God will do the rest.

Thank you for such a wonderful conversation, Carl.

Shabbat Shalom!
